Trending in India: From #HNY2015 to #NeverEver

In India it has been more than 24 hours past the ‘Happy New Year’ blast but the holiday fever continues. Social media users are still hooked on Facebook, Twitter and WhatsApp wishing each other Happy New Year.

Further to #HNY2015, there is another trend – #NeverEver that managed to overshadow the new year celebrations in India for some time. A song titled Never Ever by Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan a.k.a Pita Ji or the Rockstar Saint, reached the ears of one million users in one night. The song will feature in his movie MSG – ‘The Messenger of God’. The movie’s page – MSG The File released the song online with the message “Guys & gals, The Remix of #NeverEver is now LIVE. Tune to YouTube and make your Sunday evening super awesome!”.

Twitter users continue to thank Pita Ji with messages flooding the Twitter Page of Gurmeet Ram Rahim who does not follow a single user in Twitter but has a following of close to 60,000 on the micro-blogging website. It is Never Ever which continues to keep the new year party going on for some and has been dubbed as the ‘Party Anthem for the New Year.’

It takes a lot of get multimedia content trending online and Pita Ji has accomplished the same with just one song which makes me wonder about the magic of the Rockstar Saint. There was no dearth of news like Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s retirement from Test Cricket, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Baneerjee joining Twitter or establishment of NITI Aayog to replace the 64 year old Planning Commission of India but Never Ever has a style of its own.
