Shark Tank’s Daymond John Helps Pick Winner PayPal Duel at SXSW

Shark Tank's Daymond John Helps Pick Winner PayPal Duel at SXSWDaymond John of ABC’s hit series Shark Tank and PayPal picked a winner for the PayPal Duel at SXSW over the weekend.

Top honors — and one big fat check — went to Earhoox, a tool that stretches onto any earbuds and offers a secure fit, no matter your activity or ear shape.

According to details provided to MMW by PayPal, Earhoox owners Jeff Becker and Helmut Wyzisk pitched their business to Daymond and PayPal and won $30,000 and coaching support through 2015.

This year at SXSW, PayPal partnered with Daymond John to host the Duel competition as a tribute to entrepreneurs.

The two finalists selected to compete over the weekend were Peanut Butter Americano (from Phoenix, AZ) and Earhoox (from Orlando, FL). They were chosen by a national online vote to fly to Austin for the pitch.

Ironically, reps for PayPal tells us, the winning company actually tried to pitch a “Shark” before but didn’t make it.  After having been cut in the final round of an audition for ABC’s Shark Tank and making it into The PayPal Duel, this was the opportunity they had been waiting for to get their business plan in front of Daymond John.
