‘Mobile Is Everything’: MWC 2016 Will Feature Major Product Debuts
The GSMA Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is expected to see a number of major product launches, reports CIO Today, including Samsung’s Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, LG’s LG Pay mobile payment system, LG’s G5 smartphone, and Xiaomi’s Mi 5 smartphone. Among the other companies likely to unveil new devices at the conference are HTC, Huawei, and Sony.
“The theme for this year’s event is, “mobile is everything.” Some of the keynote speakers scheduled to hit the stage during the four-day conference include Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Intel Relevant Products/Services CEO Brian Krzanich, and Qualcomm president Derek Aberle,” according to the report.
The event, set for February 22-25 in Barcelona, Spain, is a must-attend for anyone in the mobile ecosphere.
What’s new? Sessions and events focused on the themes of “mobile, media and entertainment.” Returning this year is Innovation City, an immersive environment dedicated to showcasing the impact of mobile technology on business, transportation, health, and daily living.
“Samsung yesterday announced that it has scheduled a “Galaxy Unpacked 2016″ event in Barcelona for February 21, one day ahead of the official opening of the conference. While the company isn’t offering many details about what the event will highlight, it’s widely believed Samsung will introduce its latest smartphones, the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge,” according to CIO Today.
Mobile pay tech will also take center stage at MWC. LG Electronics is expected to debut its “White Card,” a credit card-like electronic payment system for LG Pay, the company’s rival to Apple Pay and Samsung Pay.
