Facebook appoints new Head of Indonesia
Facebook has appointed Sri (Wido) Widowati as Head of Indonesia. She will lead Facebook’s business efforts in Indonesia, providing counsel and support to local and global brands and agencies in the country.
The appointment of Ms Wido demonstrates Facebook’s continued commitment to Indonesia, where companies are turning to Facebook to build stronger connections with existing customers and reach new ones.
“Southeast Asia is home to some of the largest and fastest growing countries for Facebook and Instagram, and Indonesia is an important country driving this growth. Ms Wido’s experience in the region and vision for Indonesia will help us strengthen our support for businesses. With Ms Wido’s leadership we’re committed to investing in the resources to help our partners achieve their business goals,” said Kenneth Bishop, Managing Director, Southeast Asia, Facebook.
In her role, Ms Wido will focus on driving greater value and support for international and Indonesian businesses across several industries, such as eCommerce, consumer goods, financial services, and tech/telco.
“Indonesians on Facebook are a highly engaged, mobile first community who want to connect with each other and businesses in meaningful ways. Over the past year, in Indonesia, Facebook has experienced double digit growth while Instagram has grown 100 per cent from the previous year. On Facebook, we are helping 82 million Indonesians, 94 per cent through their mobiles, connect with the people and things that matter to them most. I’m excited to return to Indonesia to help our partners tap into new opportunities that will empower them to innovate and grow their businesses,” said Ms Wido.
Instagram recently announced the community in Indonesia has grown to 22 million, a 100 per cent growth from the previous year.
Ms Wido has nearly 20 years of experience in consumer goods marketing across Asia. She was most recently with Garnier where she served as Vice President and Head of Garnier International Marketing and Development for ASEAN. Previously she was with Unilever. She will be based in Jakarta.
