Data pick of the day: Tech products most discussed online
Influencers have gained prominence in the marketing ecosystem, especially in the wake of digital growth. Even though influencers, also dubbed as brand advocates by some, have been active across domains, it appears that technology is still the dominating category for online discussions on products and services.
Data from Global Web Index’ GWI Brand report that tracks the most popular subjects being discussed online, indicates that technology led products feature prominently.
Within the top 10 subjects, more than a fourth of overall audiences have talked about mobiles, and over a fifth have claimed to discuss computers. The desire to be seen as a tech-influencer has emerged strong.
Across all 10 subjects, 16-34s have a significant lead over the other age groups. Tech is especially important for the youngest internet users, while travel and cars are particular favourites of 25-34s.
