Data pick of the day: Instagram membership approaches 50%
Facebook-owned Instagram has been one of the biggest success stories in the social networking space in recent years. And the platform shows no signs of slowing down in 2016.
According to Global Web Index’ newest wave of research, Instagram’s audience has continued to expand rapidly this year – with the percentage of internet users outside of China having an account on the network jumping by over 10 percentage points compared to late 2015. This means Instagram can now boast a reach of almost 50 per cent – a marked and substantial increase on the 17 per cent seen back in Q2 2013.
Instagram’s continued success is testament to the appeal of more specialised networks and means it’s now extremely close to entering the top tier of major platforms.
