Data pick of the day: 68% will be watching World Cup
With just a month to go, the countdown for FIFA World Cup has begun. As a sign of just how big the event’s reach will be, data from Global Web Index shows that around 68 per cent of internet users aged 16-64 say they plan to watch the tourney.
Just as significantly, nearly a quarter (24 per cent) of people claim they will catch as many matches live as possible – confirming the continuing importance of real-time consumption when it comes to sporting and other ‘event’ TV content.
