Data pick of the day: 54% tablet users share device

Compared to mobiles or laptops, it appears that sharing devices is a trend much more pronounced in tablets. Data from Global Web Index indicates that fewer than 50 per cent tablet owners are the sole users of their device, with nearly a quarter sharing their tablet with one other person and close a third saying that two or more others have access to it.

All this suggests that passive measurement techniques are underestimating the overall size of this audience. As we’ve seen elsewhere, one device does not automatically equal just one user.
