Data pick of the day: 36% internet users write personal blogs

According to Global Web Index’ latest wave of research, 36 per cent of internet users aged 16-64 said that they wrote on a personal blog within the last month – a figure which represents a mighty 545 million people across GWI’s 32 countries.

Popular culture dominates in terms of favourite topics, led by films (43 per cent), music, and technology (40 per cent each).

Outside of the top 10, though, 15% of bloggers are posting product and brand reviews – indicating how important this space has become in terms of brand-relevant conversations.
