KFC tries to #KFCWOW consumers

In a unique way of reaching out to its young audience, KFC has set up its first-ever store on Twitter. Now, consumers will be able to pay with their tweets, that is, buy items off the WOW menu by simply tweeting with the #KFCWOW hashtag.

The campaign will let consumers choose from amongst more than 10 products including the all new OMG burger, OMG roller and also summer delights like Brownie Blast Krusher and the Alphonso Fruitzer. The WOW menu starts at INR 29.

Dhruv Kaul, Chief Marketing Officer of KFC said, “As a brand that is youth-focused and with over 7.5 million fans on Facebook, we at KFC always look at engaging with our fans in never-before ways. We have to our credit many digital innovations like the WOW App which was a unique app designed especially for KFC, #KFCWishbucket campaign and now the ‘KFC Tweet Shop’. The latest campaign allows our consumers to access the craveable taste of KFC through a first-of-its-kind Twitter activation.”

The Tweet Shop campaign will be conducted in two parts. The first part will be at at Mantri Mall in Bangalore on May 6 where consumers can gather at the store and pay for the WOW menu items through their tweets. All they have to do is tweet with the #KFCWOW hashtag. If a product costs INR x, the consumer needs to tweet ‘x’ times from his personal handle with this hashtag and he will receive the product free.

The second part of the campaign will unfold on Twitter between May 7-10. It will be a virtual pop up store where each day, 100 units of a chosen WOW product will be up for grabs. Day 1 will see 100 OMG burgers up on the Tweet Shop and the first 100 Tweeple who tweet the required number of times with the #KFCWOW hashtag will get the product free.

Similarly, on Day 2, 100 OMG rollers will be available on Twitter; Day 3 will have hot wings and Day 4 will have Brownie Blast Krushers.
