Wunderman gives its clients something to play with this CNY

Wunderman is ram-ping up for Chinese New Year with two interactive 3D campaigns aimed at marketers in Taiwan and China. In a Chinese-language-dominated society like Taiwan, ‘Wunderman’ is a strange name and difficult to remember. At this time of year, the market is also saturated with agencies sending out New Year greetings and gifts to clients.

To stand out from the clutter, Wunderman Taiwan launched ‘Wonders of Wunderman 2015′, an interactive multimedia game that breathes new life into the traditional New Year greeting card.

Some Taiwanese might not know Wunderman, but they are certainly familiar with Superman and Spider-Man—so why not Wonder Men, a group of especially talented marketing superheroes? In ‘Wonders of Wunderman’, Wunderman Taiwan employees star as superheroes with special powers, and players of the game can use their mobile phones as game controllers to catch these characters—each Wonder Man unlocks different New Year well wishes and prizes. Clients will be sent customised 3D-printed gifts depending on which Wonder Man they catch.

新年不一“羊”* / Every Sheep Unique
We live in an age of personalised, data-driven communications, targeting people anywhere and anytime. When every message can be tailored to the individual, Wunderman China wanted to find a unique way to make its Chinese New Year greeting personal for clients. To welcome the Year of the Ram in a special way, it created hundreds of virtual sheep. Every single one sports a different design and color, with no two alike. Designed in 3D, some look traditionally ovine, while others are modern or even futuristic robot sheep.

Tapping the WeChat platform and QR codes, Wunderman China created a mobile site that invites clients to shake their phones to reveal the hundreds of different sheep. Once clients find one they like, they can claim it and it will be created for them using the latest 3D-printing technology. Their sheep will then be delivered in a specially designed gift box.

*不一样 (bu yi yang) means different or unique, and (yang) is a homonym with the Chinese word for sheep: (yang)
