Data pick of the day: 50% onliners visit Google via mobile
Life without Google can be really hard to imagine. There are hardly any days when an onliner doesn’t visit Google; it’s highly improbable! People nowadays are so hooked onto Google that they require it even while on the move. Came across an unfamiliar locality and you think you might be lost? You can Google your way out, thanks to mobile internet and smartphones. Google on your smartphone is a highly useful tool. According to Global Web Index, 50 per cent of internet users visit Google via their mobiles.
At a global level, an impressive 50 per cent of internet users aged 16-64 are now engaging with the search giant on mobile. But this headline figure can mask even stronger levels of engagement at a national level, with the figure reaching its highest in Malaysia (69%).
If we then extend this to look at total reach across all of the major internet major devices (PCs, laptops, mobiles and tablets), it’s clear why Google has so much to celebrate: a mighty 85 per cent of global internet users are visiting the search engine in some form each month, peaking at 97 per cent in Argentina.
Ten years after its IPO, then, Google really can claim to be ubiquitous.
