Google Voice/Skype and Digsby.com/Google Wave
Skype got some serious competition coming their way:

Since my reason post about Google Wave I found a couple of similar systems already live. One of them is Digsby which offers you to link your IM, E-mail and social networking accounts together… Smart thinking and pretty easy to see where Google got some of the ideas for Wave.
