Periscope introduces Landscape mode
The live streaming app by Twitter, Periscope, has now introduced a landscape mode of broadcasting videos. Viewers can continue holding their device in portrait, or match the broadcaster’s orientation to maintain full screen video.
Recently, Facebook-owned Instagram also changed its image format to include landscape images, while earlier it only announced square images. With the increase in use of visual-based apps, the companies are accommodating more features which allow users more flexibility with the content they produce.
The company blog said, “When we first launched Periscope, we only supported portrait broadcasting. As much as we’re fans of portrait video, we know that there are times where the scene you’re trying to capture is best expressed in landscape. We know the community has been craving this feature — we wanted to be thoughtful about our approach to ensure a seamless experience across all of our platforms (iOS, Android and Web).”
Periscope also has some added new features such as including the person’s name in shared content, mutual follow and better accessibility.
